In this week's lesson we learnt to use the technique of producing large quantity of ideas and Literature Review. The lecturer first started to get us to think of what irritates us and what we can create to resolve it, making our lives easier.

These were some Ideas shown to us and the FYP that interest us the most was
' Keep medication and vaccine cold for prolong period without power ' because it is very applicable now since the pandemic has gotten worst and Singapore is currently carrying out nation wide vaccination.
Brain storming
We thought of two topics which are elderly care and Health Care, below are our idealization process.
1. Elderly Care
There are many health and mobility concerns for our senior citizens such as falling and transportation.
We thought of redesigning a wheel chair so that can be folded into a crutch, however the idea did not require chemical engineering principles hence we stripped it off.
2. Health Care
In the heat of the pandemic, it is important to sterilize our hands before we eat and so on but the most contaminated item is our wallet and phones. These items can be sterilize at home using a sterilizing box similar to that of salon's equipment sterilizing box. Our aim is to redesign this product into a safer and multi-function system.
We use the literature review template to broaden our knowledge on disinfection and sterilization methods, our findings helped us come up with suitable features for our product these are vapor disinfection, UV-Light and chemical dispenser.
Literature-Review Template
We used the template provided to source out for the different ways of disinfecting a product. The filled in template is shown below.
Practical 1: Coffee Machine
On Thursday we had our first practical which is to dissembled a coffee machine to understand it‘s working principles there were heating cord, wires, tubes, check valves etc.

Lastly, we brewed the coffee and collected data for further calculations such as finding the amount of
energy consumed by the machine and coffee. It was a fun and engaing practical we all enjoyed it.
