In this week, we started learning about sketching. To be honest sketching sounds itme consuming and tiring to why is it important that we learn how to sketch? Well sketching is an important way to express our ideas to people in order to show and explain our concepts. As they say 'A picture is worth a thousand words'. Furthermore, by sketching out our idea, we will get a better understanding of our idea and we are able to find parts of our design that can be refined to get a better virion of it.
To start off with knowing how to sketch, we started learning how to draw basic lines and shapes. We had to draw straight lines without rulers and it was not as easy as it looked, next we drew circles and ellipses with the help of a few construction lines.

After that, we started leaning how to a 1 point perspective of a milk carton" In order to do this, we drew a line in the center of the paper and put a dot on the center of the line. Then all lines that are drawn will go to that single point. This line is called the vanishing point and in a one point perspective drawing there is only 1. Furthermore, all horizontal lines will be parallel to the horizontal line that cuts across the vanishing point.

Next, we drew a 2 point perspective drawing of a book. In a 2 point perspective drawing, instead of only having one vanishing point, we have 2. and similarly, all lines will be drawn to either vanishing points and all horizontal lines are parallel to the horizontal line in the center.

However, despite my best efforts, it looks more like a box then a book.....
Lastly, we learnt how to fill up a specification table. So what is a specification table? Well s specification table is used to provide product design teams with the information they need to build out new features or functionality of a product..
A good design specification tale enables the product team to answer:
• What are we building?
• What should the final build achieve?
• How do we measure success?

After getting feedback from our lecturer on our specification table, we realized there were more to the specification then we knew. For example, IP67 requires sealing on the openings of the box and we need to find a way to prevent the charging port from getting wet. Next the weight of the box needs to be adjusted in order to make it more realistic.
